In 1996, Delphinium, Ltd. was founded by John Soroka, Michael Quinn and Gary Alaimo, former musical theatre performers who, looking to create a business they could call their own, saw the growing need in their community for a retail store combining unique cards and gifts, sold in a warm friendly environment; a haven from the hustle and bustle of Hell’s Kitchen in midtown Manhattan. With the help and support of family, friends and a lot of hard work, Delphinium Card & Gift was born! An immediate success, it has become a memorable stop for people from coast to coast and abroad. Overflowing with colorful and unusual cards, candles, books, stationery, jewelry, bath products, children’s books, etc. it continues to grow and thrive in the heart of NYC.
The growing success of Delphinium Card & Gift allowed us to realize another dream of ours: to create a unique home accessories and gift store that was sorely needed in our rapidly growing neighborhood that combines vintage charm with cutting edge style, combining old and new as one. With great inspiration and hard work, Delphinium Home opened its doors on Ninth Avenue in August of 1999, filled with stylish gifts and home accessories from around the world for kitchen, bath and home. As Delphinium Home continues to grow and inspire visitors and New Yorkers alike, it greatly enhances the ever-changing landscape that is “Hell’s Kitchen”.
As Delphinium Home continued to grow over the past few years, we somehow found the time to create another unique shopping experience in our neighborhood - just for men. Wear Me Out opened its doors in April, 2001, filled with casual, contemporary clothing and accessories for fashion conscious men and their admirers. It has grown to become THE place in midtown for fun, casual clothing and continues to grow and evolve with each season.
